“The Way We Play”
1. Hit the cut-off man.
2. Advance on balls in the dirt.
· When we don’t take the extra base it’s like going downstairs on Christmas and not opening all of your presents: “If there going to give you a gift, then take it”.
3. Hustle at all times.
· 10 seconds off the field after 3rd out on defense.
· 20 seconds back on the field after 3rd out on offense.
4. Do not make the first or last out at 3rd or home.
5. Take the extra base on cut-off/relay overthrows.
6. Hit hard ground balls and line drives.
· Keep the ball out of the air.
7. Look for the ball thigh high and rip it.
· Be aggressive.
8. Short quick swings by hitters.
· Reduce our strikeouts.
9. We have to be perfect at the bunt and hit and run.
10. Pitchers need to work fast and throw strikes.
11. Make the routine play on defense.
12. Communicate with each other on pop flies and “tweener” plays in the outfield.
13. Don’t give the other team more than 3 outs.
14. Pick each other up.
15. Be positive with your teammates.
16. Be coachable.
17. Work hard.
18. Play the game, not the scoreboard.
19. Throw up a “5 spot” every once in a while.
20. Leave the umpires alone.
21. No ragging on your opponent.
22. Stay on your “mental toes” the entire game.
· It’s only 2 hours of your life; stay in the game.
23. Don’t be a taker: Give something back to the game every day you practice or play.
24. Play everyday like it’s your last.
Play with class and professionalism
